Pepper Spray Becomes Popular in Vacaville

In Vacaville, California reports of a serial rapist stalking and attacking women have caused many women to purchase pepper spray as a self-defense tool. Since June 2003 the police believe a single individual is responsible for at least three attacks and possibly an additional five. Many women are now carrying pepper spray which can cause temporary blindness for defensive purposes.

As a result of these purchases many sporting good stores in Vacaville are reporting that their stock is either depleted or severely limited. Pepper spray is popular with women since it is an easy to use self-defense weapon that allows individuals to stay at arms length or more from their attacker.

However, the police advise that when traveling alone or in dangerous areas women should have the pepper spray in hand and ready. You don't want to search for your pepper spray when it is needed most.

The Vacaville police have increased their patrols and a task force has been put together to find the man. However, the suspect still remains unidentified. The police believe the crimes starting in June 2003 and have escalated in viciousness since then. There have been two other attacks in February 2004 and another on Dec. 12. The recent attack involved the use of a weapon by the suspect.
