Self defense program introduced for children below 12 years by The Ali Kemp Educational Foundation ( T.A.K.E.)

A self defense program is introduced as a mark of respect to Ali Kemp. Ali kemp was a student who was murdered in her workplace. After completing her first year at university she had taken a summer job in a neighborhood swimming pool. She was brutally murdered while working and this exposed the inadequate safety provisions for women. This not only shook the state of Kansas but concerned the entire world as the horrible incident took place in daylight and in a public place.

The proposed program is known as T.A.K.E. Defense Training. The primary objective of this program is to equip woman with self defense tactics and techniques. Personal safety to woman is becoming a very crucial issue and one must keep in mind the fact that it is the need and order of the day. Crimes against women are increasing at an alarming pace and such a step has already been welcomed by many people. The unique feature of this program is that the participants are not required to come alone. Rather they can bring counterparts like friends, mother, cousin or daughters and thereby help one another to protect themselves in a better manner. Fundamental issues on how to defend one and escape from an attack will be explained in the session and it will be supported by lively practical demonstrations.

The Ali Kemp Educational Foundation conducts this program. The other partners who have joined TAKE for this noble venture includes Johnson County Park and Recreation District, City of Leawood Parks and Recreation, the Blue Valley Recreation Commission. The curriculum and other teaching materials and structuring have been done by Jill Leiker . Jill leiker is by himself a self defense trainer who has successfully trained many aspirants. He is also the Corporate and Community Wellness Manager for JCPRD. The Whole credits for the program goes to the family of kemp who have taken all efforts to make people understand and be prepared so that what happened to kemp will not happen to anyone else.
