Local women fighting back
With figures showing that crime rates are growing steadily and that crimes against women are more and more common even in rural areas it is time that not just the government and the law enforcing agencies but also women themselves know what they are doing when it comes to making sure that they are safe and protected at all times. There is no reason to go overboard but there are basic techniques that can be valuable for both women and men when it come to self defense.
In Nashville, Tenn. the local community has decided to take matters into their own hands. The locals decided that it was a god idea to get some training in self defense to make sure that local women could feel better and more secure about going out on their own. They local community got a local martial arts studio to help people out and give some training.
The residents of a place called Inglewood had been through a terrible ordeal not so long ago. One of the local women has been attacked and raped in the area around Inglewood. One of the local martial arts instructors of the center called Donnavan Stevens came up with the idea to start a free self defense class for all the local women who wanted to take part.
There is a lot of interest for the class and there is a chance that the idea might be repeated in other local places. Women benefit from these self defense classes in more ways than one. The growing self esteem because of these lessons has been cited as the main reason why women feel better about going out again after attending these classes. The techniques that are taught help women to buy time and get away if they are attacked.
