Choosing Self Defense Program! The Correct Way!

There are many self defense programs on the Internet and in your community. If you are serious about taking your personal protection into your own hands, self defense training is the way to go.
But not all self defense programs are created equal. You kneed to know which programs for self defense to use in order to get the proper skills for your protection.

How to Choose the Right Self Defense Program

When looking for a self defense program, there are several considerations you need to make in order to choose from the myriad of self defense schools and programs out there.

Find Accurate Content

Find a program that offers accurate content. This means that the skills they teach you are up to date, and the information the classes present makes sense.

Look for Positive Training

Choose a program that is positive. This is important, because positive safety and self defense programs are easier to stick with. You should be encouraged by your trainers and teachers, not brought down. You should enjoy going to class and learning the skills that will keep you safe.

Choose Age and Gender Appropriate Training

Age is one category of self defense programs that is often overlooked. There are self defense programs for children, young adults, and even senior citizens. Make sure you choose one that is right for you. Also, if you want to train with your whole family, find training that incorporates skills for a variety of age groups. Along with this, many people find gender specific training to be helpful, particularly women. A woman is often more comfortable training in a class of other women, rather than in mixed company.

Action Versus Teaching

You will find that there are action based and talking based self defense programs. Self defense products include action based training videos, and talk based lectures and books. You need a good balance, but if the program is going to be too heavy one direction, it should be towards action. All of the talk in the world is not going to keep you safe in a dangerous situation if you do not know how to physically handle an attacker. Look for programs that are action oriented, with spoken instruction integrated throughout the program.
