Safety Measures for Female Travelers
Unfortunately women are more at risk of attacks when they travel alone
than men are. Travel safety tips can give, female travelers a few
pointers to help ensure their safety when they go out alone. These
tips are not meant to scare women, nor is a woman ever to blame for
being attacked sexually or in any other way.
Even though in most countries international travel safety standards
are high and every woman should be safe, there are always areas
to avoid and things to keep in mind. Most of these travel safety
tips are based on common sense, and listening to your gut instinct
is as important as knowing what to do in the case of an attack.
Keeping a small electronic self defense alarm with you can heighten
your security and helps to make you feel protected if you are traveling
alone. These devices emit a loud sound to alert people in your immediate
vicinity and will more than likely cause your attacker to run off.
Wholesale public travel safety kits can help you stay safe if you
travel and it is wise to always keep one with you.
Safety Tips for Women Travelers
There are some of the safety tips for women travelers as follows:
Check Your Attire
- Do not wear expensive clothes. An expensive dress or outfit will
attract attention and criminals know how to detect the signs when
it comes to expensive goods. Wearing expensive clothing will mean
(at least to them) that you are rich and that you could possibly be
a good victim to rob. This is one of the most important travel safety
tips.
- Try to dress like a local. Save your best clothes for other
times and try to blend in with the locals, spend some money on buying
some clothes that many people are wearing wherever you are and (temporarily)
replace your expensive watch with a cheap plastic one.
- Do not expose your expensive mobile phone or other goods of
value. Phones are always interesting to thieves and will be sold
on immediately. Try to avoid ringing someone in the middle of a
busy street and make your phone calls from inside your hotel room.
Avoid Travel Theft
- Watch the crowd wherever you are. Are people just standing there
watching other people? Is there someone who keeps trying to start
conversations with people or are people offering to take your picture
for you with your camera? Offers to help carry your heavy suitcase
are sometimes just a very friendly and polite offer to help you, but
unfortunately thieves can act in a very polite manner too. Be careful
when other people offer to handle your belongings.
- Carry a light. Do not walk alone in dark areas and make sure
to carry a small light with you in case you need it. Darkness often
attracts criminals and using a light will often scare them off.
